A special relationship
Ronan Floch, sail designer at Incidences Brest explains the special relationship that the group has with this incredible skipper : "I am Gildas’ primary contact for the development of his sails. He is highly precised and really invested in their development and optimization. We conducted a real personalization of them until a week before the start of the Transat AG2R La Mondiale. He regularly came to the sail loft to closely follow their design, while adding his personal touch. His sails are really made for his boat, tailored to fit his mast setting. We get along really well as we experienced the same things with the Olympics preparation we have done. " With two preparations for the Olympic Games in Athens and Beijing, Ronan does indeed have a sailing experience required when discussing sails’ optimization with the skippers. "We will debrief with Gildas next week to see if there any changes he would like to make for his new set for the Solitaire du Figaro.”
Incidences Sails seen by Gildas Morvan after his victory
On his arrival at St Barts in the Caribbean, Gildas did not hide his satisfaction: "We have indeed worked hard in Brest ahead of the race, and the result is convincing! I was well equipped, and my set of sails allowed us to successfully adjust the boat according to wind conditions. There will be some tiny changes to make, minor edits but no big change as they really are high-quality sails! "
Other skippers will be equipped with Incidences Sails at the start of La Solitaire du Figaro
Several skippers evolving in the Figaro Bénéteau 2 circuit have decided to run alongside Incidences in 2012. Jeanne Grégoire (Banque Populaire), Vincent Biarnes (Prâti'Bûches) or the rookie Thomas Norman (Financial of the Exchequer) will be equipped with them for the Solitaire, thus joining Thierry Chabagny (Gedimat), Yoann Richomme (DLBC), Paul Meilhat (Skipper Macif 2011) and Damien Guillou (Solidarity Mutualiste). The arrival of these new sailors is not a coincidence, but rather the pay-off of the tasks undertook from last year. "We really invested on this circuit last year. We were able to address a transition period with the sails membranes, we regularly participate in their training sessions to test our new products, and finally the victory of Jeremie Beyou last year allowed us to establish even more the brand on the circuit," explains Ronan, who himself moved to Ireland on the 3rd leg of the Solitaire du Figaro 2011 to undertake some repairs.
